A nude statue of US presidential candidate Donald Trump that was installed in New York has been torn down because it was an “unpermitted erection”.

Self-proclaimed “anarchist group” INDECLINE simultaneously unveiled the unflattering life-size statues in New York’s Union Square, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Cleveland and Seattle.

Each of the statues was accompanied by an engraved plaque titling the fixtures “The Emperor Has No Balls”.

“Like it or not, Trump is a larger-than-life figure in world culture at the moment,” a spokesperson for the group told The Washington Post.

“Looking back in history, that’s how those figures were memorialized and idolized in their time — with statues.”

The artist behind the statues, known only as “Ginger,” has designed horror movie monsters and told the Washington Post: “When [the INDECLINE group] approached me, it was all because of my monster-making abilities. Trump is just yet another monster, so it was absolutely in my wheelhouse to be able to create these monstrosities.”

But New York’s Parks Department quickly sent a pair of workers to tear down the statue as the crowd that had formed around it booed.

“NYC Parks stands firmly against any unpermitted erection in city parks, no matter how small,” a hilarious department spokesperson said.
