Lil Nas X released his debut album MONTERO yesterday along with the video for his latest guaranteed megahit ‘That’s What I Want’. Continuing to defy convention by blatantly centring his sexuality, Lil Nas X goes Brokeback in the NSFW vid.

Scroll down for ‘That’s What I Want’

The vid kicks off with Lil Nas X plummeting from the sky into the middle of a football match. After catching the eye of one of the players, they meet in the locker room for hot, steamy, and — emphatically safe — sex. (Lil Nas X pointedly rips open a condom wrapper with his teeth.)

Cut to a Brokeback Mountain inspired scene with the singer and his onscreen lover sitting by a campfire under the stars before retiring to a tent for more hot NSFW action.

The drama later amps up when Lil Nas X arrives at his lover’s home, roses in hand. No spoilers here — watch the video — but this clip is everything.

Just when it seems the clip can’t get better, Billy Porter turns up in a cameo role. After Lil Nas X makes his way up a church aisle in a wedding dress, Billy hands him a guitar and the singer pleads for love as mascara-stained tears run down his face.

MONTERO

As of today, every track from MONTERO has hit the top 100 on US Apple Music. It seems the singer/songwriter once derided as a one-hit-wonder following the success of ‘Old Town Road’, will enjoy hits with every single track on the album.

MONTERO includes collaborations with Jack Harlow, Doja Cat, Elton John, Megan Thee Stallion, and Miley Cyrus.
