It is difficult to find information on Steve but Wikki tells us that Grand wrote music from the time he was 11 years old. By age 13, Grand realized that he was gay and struggled to reconcile his sexuality with his Catholic upbringing. He came out to friends while in the eighth grade. After his parents learned of his sexuality, they enrolled him in “straight therapy” for five years.

After graduating from Lemont High School, Grand attended Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee for one year. He returned to Chicago to enrol in at the University of Illinois, and later left to pursue a musical career.

Steve is publishing his own music and has not signed with a record label as yet, but that looks set to change real soon thanks to people power.

Steve attracted a huge crowd for his performance in Chicago last week and he posted a response on his facebook that said “ Hearing you guys singing along to “All-American Boy” last night made my life. I can’t tell you what it means to me… I’ve waited my whole life to hear that sound and it was just as beautiful as I ever imagined it. Thank you guys for coming out and packing the house… especially those that came from all over the country!! You guys are ridiculous!! I can’t wait until I have a record out and the means to come travel out to see all of you. Thank you. I love you guys so much.”
