A social group to bring together LGBTI four-wheel drive owners has been started on Facebook.
Out Off-Road is for LGBTI people of all ages from across Australia with four-wheel drives who want to get together, make some new friends, share all-terrain routes and explore some of the most far-flung corners of the beautiful country.
Organisers say the group is informal and relaxed and each trip, organised by individual members of the group, generally involves meeting at a rendezvous point and heading in a convoy to a camping spot to socialise and plan the next day. This allows first-time 4WDers to travel with more experienced drivers for safety.
All members are also encouraged to plan their own trips and post the details to the group’s Facebook page or send them in to the group’s admins via email and they’ll be promoted on the page.
In Queensland, Out Off-Road members are currently planning adventures across the Simpson Desert to Birdsville in central-west Queensland for their annual racing carnival in late August and early September. A trip to Stradbroke Island is also planned for early in January.
