Neighbours Become Good Friends, But Is A Same-Sex Marriage In The Mix?

Same-Sex Marriage Proposal

If everything goes to script, David will pop the question to Aaron in an upcoming episode of the long-running soap Neighbours.

David, feeling bad for turning down Aaron’s offer to move in, decides to prove his love by proposing to Aaron while dressed as Cupid, complete with feathery wings and a bow and arrow.

However, it seems David may not get the answer he wants as Aaron is dealing with some serious family drama involving his brother, who confessed to killing his biological father.

And if that isn’t enough, Aaron spent some time with his ex Rory and, though nothing happened between the pair, he kept it a secret from David.

According to Neighbours producer Jason Herbison, while he’s happy that the soap will now be able to celebrate same-sex marriage, a walk up the aisle any time soon may not be all that likely.

“I’m particularly thrilled that we’ll soon have the option of celebrating all relationships in our community,” Herbison told Inside Soap.

“But that’s not to say David and Aaron will make it to the altar – we also believe in equality when putting challenges and hurdles in front of our characters!”

Earlier this year, actors Takaya Honda (David) and Matt Wilson (Aaron) were calling for the soap to feature a same-sex marriage. Wilson also said he wanted the couple to settle down together, get married and have a baby.

“Oh yeah, I want to see them go the whole hog!” Wilson said. “I want them to get married and own their own house on Ramsay Street, and maybe even have a baby.”

Of course, it’s a soap opera, so don’t expect a same-sex wedding any time soon!
