Death comes to us all. When he came to Mort, he offered him a job.

Brisbane Arts Theatre’s latest production Mort is written by the legendary author Sir Terry Pratchett and follows the story of Mort, a young man chosen as Death’s apprentice. He receives board and lodging, free use of the company horse and doesn’t even need time off for his grandmother’s funeral.

Despite the morbid nature of the play, this production as actually surprisingly very funny – albeit in a very dark way. As you will discover, Death is a 7-foot tall skeleton who is fond of cats, enjoys a good curry and rides around the skies carrying his scythe on his white horse named Binky.

The trouble begins when Mort is left in charge for an evening. He allows his heart to rule his head and soon the future of a princess and the entire Discworld are at risk.

Mort will play 22 August – 3 October at Brisbane Arts Theatre. Tickets are available now via or call (07) 3369 2344.
