Morgan Freeman has spoken about the time he had “so much fun” at a Sydney gay bar.
Freeman told News Corp that his favorite memory of Australia was ending up dancing to Sister Sledge’s “We Are Family” at the unnamed venue.
“It was so much fun and I thought there was this feeling of freedom,” he recalled.
“I am surprised Australia doesn’t have marriage equality.”
The actor’s new documentary series, The Story Of Us, took him to nine different countries and explores the different aspects of humanity that unite people.
He told News Corp he believes once people understand that being gay is not a choice, same-sex marriage will follow.
“I think one of the catalysts people have experienced here in America is the realization that some of their relatives are gay,” he said.
“What are you going to say if your 14 or 15-year-old son comes and says, “Dad, I’m gay.”
“Some are excommunicated immediately but most aren’t.
“There is a new mindset and an understanding that it isn’t some choice you are making.”
