Matthew Mitcham has shared a series of snaps of his summer road trip with his Instagram followers, and the photos are making us very jealous.

Early last month, the Olympic gold medalist wrote on Instagram that he and partner Luke are planning to move to the UK later in March, but first they were road-tripping from Cairns all the way down to Melbourne.

And on Thursday, the hunky diver checked in with his followers, sharing a snap of himself letting it all hang out in Byron Bay as he climbed the side of the Scooby Doo-themed Wicked Camper van the pair are travelling in.

“A cheeky hello from a tiny village in the Byron Bay hinterland called The Channon,” he wrote in the caption.

“This particular campground has no electricity and no hot water but the koalas and black cockatoos more than make up for it. And the waterfalls!

“And it’s quiet enough to run around in the nuddy without people taking photos!… except for this one.”

How do you insult a shower? Call it a douche. . Well, that’s the Queensland leg of our epic road trip done! Here is a brief summary: Cairns, Palm Cove, Port Douglas, Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, Townsville, Airlie, Great Barrier Reef, Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast. I spent time with my family and tried “the other diving” (scuba) for the first time. I also jumped out of a plane for the first time and discovered that falling through clouds feels like being attacked by tiny acupuncture needles, not soft and fluffy like CareBears or Aladdin would have you believe. Clouds are lies. . Now we’ve crossed the border from cane toad to cockroach territory (Queensland to New South Wales). Here is a thirsty pic of me at Byron Springs: an adorable guest house with a gorgeous hostess (Niki) who radiates love and joy like she’s celebrating a ten-year anniversary (which, coincidentally, she was… congrats!) . Now we’re headed inland past Lismore to a tiny village called The Channon to spend a couple of days camping in the Mystery Machine (our Wicked Campervan). No electricity, no hot water, but plenty of flora and fauna to help reconnect with nature. . . . . . . . . . @byronsprings_beachhouse #roadtrip #camp #camping @wickedcampers #queensland #australia #thisisqueensland #exploretnq @fnqmagazine #gay #gayboy #thirsttrapthursday #abs #blondboy #blonde #blondehair #eastcoast #fnq #tnq #cairns #townsville #portdouglas #palmcove #airlie #greatbarrierreef #brisbane #goldcoast #scuba #skydive

Just got back from spending two absolutely in.cred.i.ble days on the Great Barrier Reef about 40 nautical miles (nearly 3hrs by catamaran) out from Airlie. I scuba dived for the first time (as seen in picture one with a Maori Wrasse which is currently in the process of changing from female to male… really). And I snorkelled: I saw millions of fish including two giant Queensland Gropers around 250-350kg, 5 cuttlefish all swimming in a row, a giant royal blue starfish, and two turtles!! I also got to sleep on a pontoon out in the middle of the reef overnight, so we saw the sun set, slept in a swag under the stars, watched the sun rise and then did it all over again. It was honestly one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had. Highly, highly recommend!! . . . . . . . @cruisewhitsundays #reefsleep #hardyreef #heartpontoon #scuba #diving #scubadiving #snorkeling #fish #turtle #whitsundays #reef #greatbarrierreef @fnqmagazine #exploretnq #explorer #thisisqueensland #australia #gayaustralia #wrasse

I could get used to this boujee lifestyle ?? . Right from the moment we arrived, The Ville was next level: a cheese board waiting for us in our room with a handwritten welcome note that had cute little in-jokes from previous email correspondences. It made me feel like The Ville and I go way back, ya know? The view out to Magnetic Island is spectacular, as you can clearly see. What you can’t see is some of the best Chinese food I have ever had: Miss Song’s. But I don’t think that’s an inside secret because the lineup to get into the restaurant was out the door and into the hotel lobby. Spent most of the day lounging by or splashing about in the fabulous pool (with plenty of sunscreen and shade, obviously), except for the hour spent having a couple’s massage ?? So yeah, I like it here… might even stay an extra day ??????? . . . . . . . @thevilletsv #townsville #casino #queensland #exploretnq #explorefnq #fnq @misssongs_tsv #luxury #boujee #magneticisland #gaytravel #gaytravelblog #gaytourism #thisisqueensland #thisisparadise

YES, YES, YES. Tropical Luxe Room at Pacific Hotel Cairns: review. . Apart from the fact that green is my favourite colour (which was accented around the room in a really classy way tying the whole place together), the room was bright and spacious with high ceilings and huge windows. The bathroom was enormous and very modern with hers-and-hers sinks (each with a big, round mirror encircled with a warm ring light… very flattering). Even the bath is big – big enough for two… very important ???? Next time you are heading to Cairns for holiday or business, you’ve got to check out @PacificHotelCairns and their brand new Tropical Luxe Room collection. Very luxe, indeed! . . . . . . #tropicalluxecairns #cairns #tropicalgetaway #cairnsaccommodation #queenslandhotel #pacifichotelcairns #luxuryhotel #getaway #tropicalholiday #queensland #fnq #gay #gaytravel #gaytravelblog #pecs #werq #work #werk #green
