An Adelaide musician’s musical open letter to Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull on the issue of marriage equality has gone viral on social media.
The 22-year-old recorded the song “Dear Malcolm Turnbull” with a group of volunteer musicians and posted it to his Facebook page, where it’s been viewed more than 103,000 times in less than 24 hours.
“My primary reason for writing the song was not to change the minds of ‘no’ voters or even those sitting on the fence,” Belperio told News Corp.
“It’s to make LGBTQI Australians, especially youth, feel strong and empowered.
“It’s an anthem for them. I want people who have any diverse sexuality or gender to know that there’s nothing wrong with them.”
Josh said he plans to release the song on iTunes and donate all proceeds to an LGBTIQ charity.
