Queensland-born actress Margot Robbie has gotten behind the “yes” vote for marriage equality in next month’s postal vote on the issue.
The Wolf of Wall Street and Suicide Squad actress took to her Instagram to remind all of her Aussie followers to enrol and have their say, no matter where they are in the world.
“LOVE IS LOVE… Any Aussie’s living overseas like me, register to vote here: http://www.aec.gov.au/enrol/ before August 24th,” she wrote.
The deadline to enrol or update electoral details on the Australian Electoral Commission website is a week away.
Unlike elections, Aussies who are overseas can’t show up to an embassy or consulate to have their say in the government’s postal survey on same-sex marriage.
They must have an overseas address registered with the AEC before the August 24 deadline in order to receive a ballot.
It’s not the first time Margot Robbie has backed marriage equality. In October last year she hosted Saturday Night Live while wearing a “Say ‘I Do’ Down Under” t-shirt.
Last weekend, olympian Ian Thorpe campaigned for the reform in Sydney and encouraged Australians to vote “yes” to send a positive message to LGBTI youth.
