Lynda Carter shuts down transphobic fearmongering

Wonder Woman star Lynda Carter recently shared her thoughts on the ‘end of the world’ narrative being pushed over trans rights.

Lynda took to Twitter recently to post a screenshot of a New York Times notification, reading, ‘How transgender rights replaced same-sex marriage as the hot-button issue the right use to galvanize its base’.

The Wonder Woman star shared her own reflection on the fearmongering tactics, tweeting:

“Remember when same-sex marriage was going to cause the end of civilization and then it had absolutely no effect on our lives as straight people? Yeah.”

Wonder Woman is a queer icon, not that we need reminding

The Wonder Woman star, a longtime supporter of the LGBTQIA+ community, is no stranger to using her voice to defend the community.

She has previously spoken out about her hard stance in aligning with the community, assuring that Wonder Woman is most certainly a queer and trans icon.

“I didn’t write Wonder Woman, but if you want to argue that she is somehow not a queer or trans icon, then you’re not paying attention,” she told GLAAD.

“Every time someone comes up to me and says that Wonder Woman helped them while they were closeted, it reminds me how special the role is.”

In the same interview, she also recalls partying with gay friends at New York gay bars.

Seeing the forest for the trees

The star’s followers were also quick to share their agreeance with the tweet.

“They continue to prey on the latest vulnerable and marginalized groups and spew needless fear to galvanize their base into another form of prejudice,” one follower wites.

“It’s a sad and frustrating tactic. We need to keep calling it out.”

Another describes them making a “scapegoat” out of trans people, saying, “Every election cycle they find some sort of scapegoat to scare their voter base, because they have no policy to sell.

“It’s been same-sex marriage, BLM, CRT, immigrant caravans, and now it’s trans-people.”

Needless to say, Lynda Carter doesn’t need a golden lasso to reveal the truth.
