k.d lang, Neko Case and Laura Veirs now make up the supergroup case/lang/veirs. The successful solo acts decided ona collaborative album that the trio describes as a one-of-a-kind event’.

Ahead of the June 17 release of the album, the trio gifted fans with a small taste of what to expect. They released Best Kept Secret, a bright track that evokes thoughts of Los Angeles, the summer and dancing with your friends.

“[Best Kept Secret] was done in one or two takes, and it went down super-fast. We were all dancing. It just had so much joy. Then Neko came up with that ba-da-da ba-da-da ba-da-da ba-da-da. It just kind of unfolded in this really joyful, celebratory way,” k.d. lang said.

The trio’s collaborative album has been in the works for several years. It came about when k.d. lang sent Case and Veirs an email that read “I think we should make a record together.”

case/lang/veirs was recorded in Portland, Oregon as the the musicians worked with Grammy-nominated producer Tucker Martine, making the record in lang’s loft as well as Veirs’ backyard studio and dining room.

Following the album’s release, the trio will also head out on a tour of the United States and Canada.
