Queensland’s own Dami Im will represent Australia in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest.
2014 Eurovision champ Conchita Wurst made the announcement during Conchita: From Vienna with Love, her live concert event with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras.
The Korean-Australian former X-Factor winner took the stage and paid tribute to original Eurovision sensations ABBA with a performance of “Waterloo” on the Sydney Opera House stage.

SBS confirmed last November that Australia will again compete at the 61st Eurovision Song Contest, to take place in Stockholm, Sweden, from May 10 to 14.
Guy Sebastian represented Australia at Eurovision last year as a one-off celebration for the contest’s 60th anniversary, and ended up finishing fifth.
Jessica Mauboy previously performed during the second semi-final interval during 2014’s contest.
