Gaga played the bloodsucking, vampy fashionista The Countess in the anthology series’ fifth season last year. She told press backstage that the role influenced her upcoming album. “Playing the Countess reminded me that in my music I’m playing a character,” she said,  via The Guardian. “Living inside her was liberating, because she doesn’t give a shit about anything. I’m a little bit different, but I think that confidence will stay with me.” Gaga Instagram:

British crooner Sam Smith and longtime collaborator Jimmy Napes also won the Best Original Song for “Writing’s On The Wall,” the theme song from last year’s James Bond film Spectre.

“I didn’t think we were going to win. This is amazing,” Sam said after the win.

“I’ve said this from the beginning, just getting the opportunity to sing a Bond song is unbelievable and a dream come true. This just makes it sweeter.”
