Kylie soars with a Minogue medley kicking off the 2026 AFL Grand Final

Kylie Minogue and G Flip perform at the 2026 AFL Grand Final

They said it was the biggest production ever staged at the MCG, and they weren’t wrong. Wet weather didn’t stop Kylie Minogue from kicking off the AFL Grand Final with an amazing Minogue medley. And let’s not forget about G Flip and Dom Dolla.

NOW THAT WAS CAMP!

Gorgeous costumes, so many dancers, string instruments, an aerial extravaganza, and that Minogue medley. What an amazing start to the Grand Final.

What a dream it must have been for Kylie to sing so many of her greatest hits at the biggest sporting event in the country in her hometown.

ARIA Award winner G Flip kicked things off with flames shooting around them as they played the drums.

Getting the crowd in the mood, they smashed out a banging set, playing some of their biggest hits on the drums, guitar and saxophone.

The short set was the perfect way to warm up the crowd.

The Toyota Retiree Motorcade was next, followed by Mike Brady performing Up There Cazaly.

It wouldn’t be a grand final without it, as the crowd sang along.

Suddenly we have images mashing our own pop princess growing up alongside footy moments of yesteryear with a Kylie voiceover.

“Football is a part of this town and we know you won’t let us down, a homecoming like this, I should be so lucky.”

Then the moment we’ve all been waiting for – Kylie Minogue

I hope Kylie wasn’t too cold starting the performance in a tank and fringed skirt as she performed Love At First Sight.

She was surrounded by dancers dressed in metallic blue before she kicked off a massive medley of her greatest hits, including Spinning Around, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head and The Loco-Motion.

You could tell Kylie was having a ball calling out to Dockers and Lions fans at the MCG while performing Get Out of My Way.

But it wasn’t just the bevy of dancers that kept us enthralled, as Kylie had multiple outfit changes and a couple of duets up her sleeve.

William Barton joined her on stage to play guitar alongside string instruments as Kylie sang Confide in Me. And then G Flip returned for a duet of Padam Padam.

You could already tell Kylie was having way too much fun. But watching her sing Padam Padam with G Flip looked like two mates having the best time.

Amidst all the costumes and colour, I think that’s what I loved the most: how much Kylie was enjoying every minute.

Of course, there was also that aerial extravaganza as she performed Can’t Get You Out of My Head.

I love how even Kylie can make a safety harness fashion. Oh, and did you catch Dom Dolla?

‘I’m kind of in awe and wonder myself at this moment’

“There’s just so much about this moment for me that’s hard for me to grasp,” Kylie said at a press conference earlier in the week.

“I’m kind of in awe and wonder myself at this moment. The MCG is gargantuan – and even when it’s empty it has this incredible energy.”

“[But] it’s also like a massive hug. It’s such a communal space that it did feel good out there.”

Now that the Kylie concert is over, it’s time for the ACTUAL main event.

Could the Brisbane Lions make history in today’s AFL Grand Final with their second threepeat in 25 years?

Will the Fremantle Dockers win their first flag since joining the league in ’95? And what time does the Kylie concert start?

We will just have to wait and see. Who are you rooting for?
