Brisbane singer-songwriter Katie Noonan will perform the new track “United in Sound” at the Welcome Ceremony at the Woodford Folk Festival for the event’s 30th anniversary.
Katie will perform the song with the Sunshine Coast Orchestra and special guests on December 27, before performing with her band Vanguard at the festival on December 28 and 29.
The festival will run at its 250 hectare home of Woodfordia, north of the Sunshine Coast, until January 1.
“Woodford is my special place and I wanted to try and evoke the spirit of this iconic event – a true community celebration where everyone plays a vital part,” Katie explained.
“I have been going to Woodford for 20 of its 30 years — either as a performer or a punter — and was honoured to be asked to help commemorate this milestone event.
“I can’t wait to hear all our voices raised in song together in the amphitheatre, united in sound.”
The concert will also showcase the Flower Fields visual art installation – a giant ‘Woodfordia’ heart crafted from more than 10,000 flowers handmade by the local communities.
