US Federal authorities yesterday arrested former reality television star and family values activist Josh Duggar on child pornography charges. Duggar appeared on his parent’s 19 Kids and Counting until revelations that he molested his little sisters as a teenager saw the show canceled.

19 Kids and Counting

Duggar’s parents belong to the Quiverfull evangelical movement that encourages procreation. The ideology outlaws premarital sex and birth control with the aim of birthing an army of foot soldiers for Christ.

33-year-old Josh Duggar is the eldest of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children. He and his wife performed a gender reveal in an Instagram video last week to announce that she is pregnant with their seventh child.

As an adult, Duggar became an executive director for the Family Research Council, an anti-LGBTQ hate group. As a public face of the organisation, he campaigned against marriage equality.

But that job came to an end after two of his sisters revealed he previously molested them and other children. Duggar’s father revealed that a state trooper gave Josh a ‘stern talk’ after the family disclosed the molestations to him. That officer later went to prison for 56 years himself — for child pornography.

Duggar faced further trouble when the hack of the Ashley Madison website revealed him as a paid member for two years. The Ashley Madison website catered for married people in search of extra-marital sex.

At the time, Duggar said he felt ashamed of his actions.

“I have been the biggest hypocrite ever. While espousing faith and family values, I have been unfaithful to my wife. I am so ashamed of the double life that I have been living and am grieved for the hurt, pain, and disgrace my sin has caused my wife and family, and most of all Jesus and all those who profess faith in Him.”

Trans attacks

Relentless campaigners against LGBTQ people in general, the Duggars specifically target trans people. The family campaigned for years against an ordinance outlawing discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity in a town near their compound.

Michelle Duggar recorded an anti-trans robocall against the ordinance.  In the call, she claimed the proposal would allow “men to use women’s and girls’ restrooms, locker rooms, showers, sleeping areas and other areas that are designated for females only.”

Josh Duggar himself later attacked 16-year-old reality star Jazz Jennings whose show appeared on the same network as 19 Kids and Counting.

“What an oxymoron… a ‘reality’ show which follows a non-reality. ‘Transgender’ is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it’s ordained by God.”

Josh Duggar’s arrest

The US Attorney’s office said yesterday that Duggar allegedly downloaded material that depicted the sexual abuse of children under the age of 12. He faces up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to US$250,000.

Duggar appeared in court via video conference and pleaded not guilty to both charges.

Yet another American so-called Christian found with his pants down and a paedophile to boot. I trust this is the last we will hear from the mighty Duggar family.
