Israel is set to introduce sweeping new LGBT rights to be named after Shira Banki, the 16-year-old girl who was killed at a recent Jerusalem Gay Pride event at which a homophobic madman went on a stabbing spree.
The ‘Shira Banki bills’ which are set to be introduced to the Israeli parliament in October would allow civil recognition of same-sex unions, ban ‘gay conversion’ therapy, bolster education programmes on equality issues, and introduce more supervisions for those convicted of hate crimes.
