The David, an actor portraying a fake influencer, sashayed his way onto the set of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! earlier tonight. However, fake or not, judging by the social media reaction, he’s already the most popular celeb.
It seems Channel 10 are this year acknowledging a universal truth about I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! That each year, the show cast announcement is greeted with a nationwide cry of, ‘Who dafuk are these people?’
So, in 2022, we see fake influencer The David added to the cast with only one fellow cast member in on the hoax. Celebrity chef Poh Ling Yeow has the job of convincing everyone else The David is a real celebrity.
If Poh can convince the others that The David is ridgy-didge, she then wins them food for their dinner.

In real life, The David is David Subritzky from Queensland’s Gold Coast. His sister Layla previously competed on Big Brother.
Despite his role as a fake celebrity, some viewers claimed they knew more about him than the real celebs.
I’m more familiar with the fake celebrity than Miss Australia. #ImACelebrityAU

Of course, to convince as an influencer, The David needed backstory and he gave that in buckets. While some viewers wondered if he’d remember it all himself, Twitter’s @maybemick brought a dose of reality.
If you didn’t think the gays could concoct such stories, you haven’t seen the Grindr profiles. #ImACelebrityAU

Just one thing though. And unrelated to The David. This viewer muted the TV to answer a call during the bit in the following screengrab. WTF is that? A very confused gender reveal?
