A fiery Iggy Azalea has taken the media to task for concocting a feud with Britney Spears.
The drama began when Iggy held a Twitter Q&A (her first big mistake) and blamed the lukewarm reception to the pair’s collab “Pretty Girls” on a lack of promotion on Britney’s part.
Soon after, Brit hilariously tweeted, “Can’t wait to get back to Vegas. So thankful I have shows for the rest of the year to look forward to,” which many media outlets took to be a cruel dig at poor Iggy’s recently cancelled tour dates and her aborted Pittsburgh Pride appearance following a clash with local gays over homophobic tweets.
But the polarising Aussie rapper responded with a blistering string of tweets quashing any inkling of a spat with Britney.
“I am honestly not surprised but still really saddened that the media is trying to create a ‘beef’ between @britneyspears and myself,” she wrote.
“We remain friends and I haven’t said anything negative at all about her. Does wishing we had promoted a single more make me the bad guy?
“I feel like the media wants women in music to get out and mud wrestle each other. As a woman I take great offense.
“Women in music are not the same as a teen drama. Stop making us all out to be, we are business women & artists. Not mean girls.”
