Skincare entrepreneur and former partner of Ian Thorpe, Ryan Channing died this week in Bali after recently suffering from health issues.
Ryan Channing had been holidaying in Bali’s Seminyak area and died after being taken to the BIMC Hospital on May 8.
A former model and law student, Ryan Channing started dating Ian Thorpe in 2015.
The couple took a prominent role on behalf of the YES campaign during the marriage equality plebiscite. They spoke of wanting to become parents through the use of a surrogate.
The couple’s activism during the campaign included making a video for Australian Marriage Equality encouraging voters to enrol to vote before the plebiscite.
However, in 2019, the pair split with Ryan saying time spent apart because of their individual business careers led to the end of the relationship.
“Yes, the rumours are true, we have parted ways. It has all been very amicable. We have stayed friends.
“We have just gone our separate ways. I have moved out.”
By then, Ryan Channing had launched a successful skincare business. He based the activated charcoal-infused BLAQ range on products he encountered during a trip to Japan.
Earlier this year Ryan Channing posted a photo from St Vincent’s Hospital after a positive COVID diagnosis.
