Hugh Jackman and Barbra Streisand have unveiled a new duet from her upcoming album Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway.
The song is titled “Any Moment Now” and in a behind-the-scenes video posted to YouTube, Hugh recalled his disbelief that the music legend had reached out to him.
“When I got the email about it, I literally stared at my phone,” he said.
“I showed my wife, who is the biggest Barbra Streisand fan… She read it and she screamed. I was like, ‘I don’t know how on earth this has happened.’ And she goes, ‘But you’re doing it!’ I said, ‘Of course I’m doing it!'”
Barbra explained: “Being an actress, I like to sing songs that give me something to act.”
“I heard the song and I thought, ‘This is a way for me to use actors who act and sing with Broadway material.’ The first person I thought of was Hugh Jackman,” she said.
“He can be a werewolf or whatever it is – Wolverine? – and yet he’s a wonderful actor who sings great.”
The album is released on August 26 and also features songs with Alec Baldwin, Antonio Banderas, Jamie Foxx, Seth MacFarlane, Melissa McCarthy, Chris Pine, Patrick Wilson, Anne Hathaway and Daisy Ridley.
