Huge Home-Grown Lineup For Brisbane Festival’s Closing Party

Brisbane musician Meg Mac is performing at the Brisbane Festival Closing Party

This year’s Brisbane Festival will go out with bang with a huge concert headlined by homegrown superstars Violent Soho and soul songstress Meg Mac.

The Brisbane Festival has been running all month, hosting more than 70 arts and cultural events at 17 venues across Brisbane city, involving more than 1000 artists and performers.

To wrap up the three weeks of local celebrations, Brisbane Festival organisers are teaming up with Secret Sounds to throw a closing night bash for the ages. The event will bring together a massive lineup of local talent including Violent Soho, Meg Mac (pictured), Methyl Ethel and WAAX.

Taking place at Brisbane’s iconic Riverstage venue and providing the perfect accompaniment to the spectacular Sunsuper Riverfire fireworks display on Saturday, September 29, the standalone Closing Party will top off festivities from 2pm with a dazzling combination of great music and pyrotechnics.

This year’s Riverfire soundtrack will celebrate sci-fi and superheroes, and spectators will be wowed by aerobatics and flypasts from the ADF from 4pm. The fireworks display will begin at 7pm on the night.

Earlier this month, the Brisbane Festival and Brisbane Pride Festival teamed up earlier this month to launch both festivals with a special mass wedding and street party to celebrate marriage equality in Australia.

Gates to the Brisbane Festival Closing Party will open at 2pm. For tickets and more details, visit the Brisbane Festival website.
