Rihanna took the time to privately give heartfelt advice to a gay fan on coming out, and since then she’s been checking in on his journey.
According to Buzzfeed, the singer has been encouraging the fan to come out ever since he told her just over a month ago that he’s been struggling to come to terms with his sexuality.
The fan, who didn’t want to be named, told BuzzFeed it had been hard for him because he felt he didn’t have anyone else to talk to, and he shared the personal messages RiRi sent him that helped him realise that he shouldn’t be ashamed of who he is.
The man first reached out to her on Twitter, explaining his dilemma.
She direct messaged him back: “Baby, it’s okay to be scared, but it’s more important to be who you really are! You are who you are and, as hard as it may seem, the best s–t ever is to have your freedom and to be at peace with yourself!”
She added: “Your family may not understand you, but luckily you live in a generation that does! Not to mention the community here; we will support you!”
In a later update, the man gave Rihanna an update on his progress, telling her he had finally came out to his second closest friend
“Slowly letting everyone know that I am gay thanks to you. I’ve never felt so comfortable,” he said.
The fan said he hopes to be open with everyone about his sexuality by July when he’ll be meeting Rihanna for the first time during her Anti World Tour.
