Serving up an audacious platter of dance, comedy, poetry, circus, striptease and song, the sweetly acidicHot Brown Honey harks back to the delicious clownery of Josephine Baker, dips into the hyper-aesthetics of Polytoxic Dance Company and packs a punch of hip hop politics.
From the simmering shores of Polynesia to the bogan streets of Australia and the life of a single mother who just happens to be a DJ, Hot Brown Honey undresses sticky topics in an explosion of colour, culture and controversy.
Created by the Luscious Lisa Fa’alafi (Polytoxic Dance Theatre) the Curvacious Candy B (Ringmaster, Circus OZ) and the Bodacious Busty Beatz (Musical Director – Briefs), this carefully selected assortment of brown, black and mixed beauties are set to smash stereotypes and remix the system. Fighting the Power has never tasted so sweet!
Hot Honey Brown will perform 19-28 March at the Judith Wright Centre of Contemporary Arts. Tickets available via www.judithwrightcentre.com or call 07 3872 9000.
