Foods From The Fire Festival with Poster

Looking to spend a Saturday afternoon in a glorious food coma, surrounded by the aroma of barbecued meats and being entertained by music, magic and fire dancers?

Head along to the Food from the Fire Festival at Fortitude Valley’s Jubilee Hotel on Saturday, May 28 from 11am-8pm and you’ll find all that and more! ENTRY IS FREE

Ever since cavemen figured out that “fire hot” and started grilling up mammoth steaks, people have been fine-tuning the art of throwing meat on the BBQ (trust us, it’s trickier than it sounds). The Jubilee Hotel is celebrating the many exotic and delicious ways to grill up all things carnivorous with a festival dedicated to them, with stalls featuring everything from South American BBQ and American smokehouse to Indonesian street food.

Leading the line up on the food front will be Barbecue Mafia, whose low and slow meats have been winning awards all over the country, Sendok Garpu and their Indonesian street foods and Brazilyum with their scrumptious Brazilian BBQ.

The Jubilee Hotel will be dishing up their own brand of fiery eats as well, with Mexican street tacos, woodfired pizza, classic Australian snags and steaks and a wok fired noodle stall.

Of course, every good BBQ needs a cold drink or two, and there’ll be no shortage of ice cold drinks, with sips on offer from Robert Oatley Wines, Brown Brothers, Chandon, Newstead Brewing, Stone & Wood, Corona, James Squire, Jim Beam, Patron and Bacardi.

So sit yourself down in the astroturfed carpark, get yourself a plate piled with sizzling meat and a glass of whatever takes your fancy from the central bar, and relax the afternoon away.

Food from the Fire is a festival for the whole family, pairing those smoked goods and cold sips with a day full of entertainment. You’ll be treated to music from around the world by bands and roving minstrels, along with street performers, novelty stalls and face painting. Later on, fire dancers will light up the night!

You’ll find it all happening in the Jubilee Hotel carpark on Saturday 28 May from 11am-8pm. Just try not to wander too close to the flames in your hunger-induced stupor. Remember: fire hot.

The Jubilee Hotel is located at 470 St Paul’s Terrace, Fortitude Valley, Brisbane QLD
