'Heartstopper' Creator Alice Oseman Is Touring Australia in October

Get ready to say “hi” to Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman — the author is embarking on an international book tour, and Australia has made the cut!

The best-selling graphic novelist announced the tour on Instagram, sharing the exciting news to delighted fans.

The news comes ahead of the release of Heartstopper Forever, the film that will mark the last on-screen adaptation of Oseman’s hugely popular series following the love story between two teenage boys, Nick and Charlie, and those of their friends. The film will hit Netflix on 17 July, shortly after Oseman releases the final graphic novel in the series, Heartstopper Volume 6.

Is Alice Oseman coming to Australia?

Yes! In exciting news for Australian Heartstopper fans, Alice Oseman is bringing their international book tour to three cities in on the east coast (and two across the ditch in New Zealand).

Oseman will appear at Brisbane Writers Festival on 11 October, at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne on 13 October, and at Sydney Writers Festival on 14 October. She’ll then head over to New Zealand to stop in at Auckland on 20 October, and Christchurch on 22 October.

The tour events promise discussions about Oseman’s early work writing YA novels, how their beloved characters came to be, and of course, the Heartstopper finale.

The tour will start in July in the United Kingdom and Ireland before heading to Mexico in July, the United States in July and August, Canada in August, Brazil in September, France in November and Germany at a date that’s yet to be determined.

Announcing the tour on social media, Oseman apologised to fans whose cities didn’t make the cut, but hinted that there may be more visits to come. “If your country/city/region isn’t on this list, firstly I am very sorry! But secondly that doesn’t mean I’ll never come to visit!!! This is all I felt I could commit to this year without dying from stress, but I am hoping to continue a few visits elsewhere in 2027,” she wrote.

Plus, she’s encouraging fans in non-touring regions to still come together with fan-led events that can be posted to the tour map on their website. “I love how Heartstopper has brought people together and fan-led events are also popping up in communities across the world,” she wrote. “We’ve made it possible for you to add your own events to the map on my website so local fans can connect & find events in their area too. I can’t wait to see your celebrations!”
