A lesbian couple from Melbourne is hoping to nail the major prize when season 12 of The Block screens later this year.
In an Australian TV first, Julia, 31, and Sasha, 42, are determined to achieve the highest auction price out of the five teams.
The couple, who have been together for four years, are not the show’s first same-sex couple, with Gavin Atkins and Warren Sonin appearing in the 2004 series.
The show will also feature the oldest Blockheads in history, Perth couple Dan, 55, and Carleen, 52, who have been married for 30 years.
The promo clip tells viewers and fans to “prepare yourself” before touting the biggest and most extraordinary transformations in the show’s history.
This year’s contestants tackle a dilapidated 100-year-old art deco building in Port Melbourne which serves as the backdrop for the series.
The other teams are best mates and primary school teachers Andy, 25, and Ben, 24, from Geelong, 25-year-old couple Karlie and William, from Queensland and teacher Kim, 32, and her policeman husband Chris, 34, from Newcastle.
