It’s time to get your red hankies out, because International Fisting Day is just around the corner!
Fist Club Europe has declared the 5th of May to be International Fisting Day, in a bid to promote visibility, education and acceptance around the sexual practice.
“May 5th, as International Fisting Day, initiated by our association, is intended to serve as a targeted opportunity to spread knowledge about safe practices, hygiene and consent, and to function as a point of contact for related questions,” said Fist Club Europe spokesperson Balian Richter.

Filling a gap
Richter said one of the main reasons for announcing a day dedicated to fisting was a lack of information about the sexual activity.
“We aim to fill a gap by pooling resources and creating a reliable platform for education,” he said.
“Fisting is more than just a sexual technique – it’s an expression of intimacy, trust and freedom.
“May 5th should be a day where we highlight this practice with respect, pride and education.”
With this in mind, First Club Europe has set up a website, www.fistingday.org, with information on fisting.
Techniques and safety are priority on the website, which focuses on gay men but also references fisting for women, as well as trans and gender diverse people.

Five fingers
The date of the event is no coincidence.
Fist Club Europe says the five fingers of each hand corresponds to the date: the 5th of the 5th.
The doubled number – 05 05 – is “eye-catching, clear and easy to communicate” the club said in a media statement.
Competing International Fisting Days
But as fisting fans might know, there is already an International Fisting Day.
The first International Fisting Day was created in 2011 by US porn stars Jiz Lee and Courtney Trouble.
Its creation coincided with the release of the banned and censored film Live Sex Show.
Directed by Trouble, it starred Lee and another porn star, Nina Hartley.
The original International Fisting Day is marked each year on 21 October.
Fist Club Europe said that date “primarily addresses censorship and representation in pornography” in the USA, whereas the 5th of May focuses on the lived practices of the global gay community.
“Our goal is not competition, but complementary,” said Balian Richter.
“We are creating a day that comes from within the community,” he said.
“Visible, open, confident and respectful.”
