Grindr’s end-of-year stats have shown Australia is among the countries in the world with the highest percentage of its users who are vers and “sides”.
This week the gay app officially unveiled Grindr Unwrapped, its cheeky spin on Spotify’s popular Wrapped end-of-year recap.
The company has crunched a whole lot of “anonymous aggregated user data” from 2024, and shared some interesting stats.
In the past year alone, Grindr users reportedly sent more than 130 billion chats, made 9.5 billion taps and shared over 2 billion photo albums.
In ranking order, the top-searched Grindr profile tags were “hung,” “trans,” “bb,” “dom,” and “feet,” while the most used among users were “discreet,” “bi,” “fwb,” “kissing,” and “oral.”
According to the stats, the countries with the highest percentage of tops are:
- Jordan
- Greece
- USA
- Singapore
- Peru
And the countries with the highest percentage of bottoms are:
- South Africa
- South Korea
- Japan
- Vietnam
- Denmark
The countries with the highest percentage of versatile men:
- Finland
- Austria
- Germany
- Australia
- Hungary
The countries with the highest percentage of sides – the term for those who prefer to avoid penetrative sex – are:
- Singapore
- Philippines
- Japan
- New Zealand
- Australia
Apparently, the UK has the most fem tops per capita, while France has the highest percentage of hung bottoms.
Meanwhile, South Korea has the most open relationships, and there’s a lot of bears in Greece, while Italy is the country most interested in feet.
Missionary was named 2024’s best sex position — although backshots was a close second. Grindr users’ favourite foreplay activity was kissing. Aw!
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan dominate Grindr Unwrapped
Grindr Unwrapped also ranks and rates pop culture each year, according to users.
Unsurprisingly, Grindr users awarded Charli XCX with Mother of the Year, Ally of the Year, and Album of the Year.
Chappell Roan’s Good Luck, Babe! was Grindr users’ top song of the year, though.
Charli XCX and Troye Sivan’s Sweat Tour was named Tour of the Year, while Troye also scored Babygirl of the Year.
Actor Pedro Pascal was voted 2024’s hottest man, according to Grindr users.
