Greens MPs have clapped back at Pauline Hanson’s anti-trans spray by inviting followers to join the “transgender insurgency” she’s so concerned about.
Pauline Hanson addressed the National Press Club earlier this week and was criticised for her “shameful” and “extreme” comments against the trans community in her speech.
“I want to turn to one very, very important social and cultural issue facing this country… the transgender insurgency,” Hanson began.
The One Nation leader went on to claim “transgender ideology” is “infecting all of society” and described the “transgender movement” as a “militant force” that “must be confronted”.
In response, a trio of Greens MPs have created some very unserious bumper stickers to send to followers that read “Trans Insurgent” and vowed, “to back in the trans community, now and always.”

‘Spreading the same hate-filled messages she’s been selling for decades’
“Pauline Hanson thinks there’s a transgender insurgency… so let’s give her one!” Greens Senators Nick McKim, Larissa Waters and Penny Allman-Payne wrote on social media.
“She is spreading the same hate-filled messages she’s been selling for decades; Islamophobia, transphobia, racism and a protection racket for fossil fuels. She deals in hatred, fear and division.”

Pauline Hanson speech ‘shameful’ and ‘extreme’
Earlier in the week, Equality Australia’s Heather Corkhill called out Pauline Hanson’s “shameful” language at the National Press Club and warned it could make trans people greater targets for hate and violence.
“Hanson’s comments are simply shameful, and are a stark example of the extreme rhetoric being directed at trans Australians,” she said.
“At a time when we are seeing an alarming rise in often violent, targeted attacks against LGBTIQ+ people, Hanson has taken her opportunity to accelerate this hatred for political gain.”
Separately, Equality Australia has joined a range of women’s groups and queer organisations to pen an open letter calling on all federal MPs to oppose proposals that would undermine protections for women and LGBTIQ+ people in the Sex Discrimination Act.
Pauline Hanson told the National Press Club that if One Nation formed government, she would sack the Human Rights Commission President, Hugh De Kretser, and Sex Discrimination Commissioner, Dr Anna Cody, in the wake of the Giggle vs Tickle trans discrimination ruling.
Undoing ‘decades of progress on equality’
Hanson – alongside Liberal leader Angus Taylor and Nationals MP Alison Penfold – has also vowed to amend the Sex Discrimination Act’s definitions of sex and gender following the ruling.
In the open letter, Equality Australia strongly oppose the politicians’ “unworkable” proposals that would “undo decades of progress on equality for women and LGBTIQ+ people.”
“Redefining ‘sex’ in the Act, or removing gender identity as a protected attribute, would strip protections from transgender Australians and weaken safeguards for women more broadly,” the letter states.
“It would render entire groups of people invisible in law and trigger a cascade of damaging consequences.
“Australian anti-discrimination law has never treated sex as a fixed biological category.
“At a time when women and LGBTIQ+ people continue to face discrimination and violence, Australia should be strengthening protections, not weakening them.”
