Well, this sounds promising!
Two London grandmas were reportedly booted out of a screening of the long-awaited “Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie” for laughing too loud.
Grandmother Jacqueline Cox and great-grandmother Cindy Amass said they were quite upset after they were told by one of the cinema staff to “laugh on the inside” or leave the cinema.
“I hadn’t been out for over a year and I was really looking forward to it. It was an early showing at 6pm so there wasn’t many people in the cinema,” Cindy told UK newspaper The Sun.
“We weren’t laughing that loudly, but it is a funny film, it’s not like we were watching Schindler’s List or anything serious.
“It was really embarrassing, no one was asking us to be quiet until the manager came over and was talking to us, then people started shushing.”
Jacqueline added: “The manager said we had to laugh on the inside. I said, ‘What the hell does that mean?’ That just made us laugh even more. There were two young men in front of us they also asked to leave.”
A spokesperson for the cinema told The Independent the staff member was reacting to complaints about the pair “talking too loudly” during the movie but nevertheless all four of the patrons reportedly took full refunds and went to a nearby bar together.
Though the Ab Fab film was released in British cinemas on July 1, it’s not opening in Australia until August 4.
