Alex Greenwich and Joyce Maynge help raise vital funds for people living with HIV as the much-loved Bobby Goldsmith Foundation (BFG) Bake Off returns.
Amateur and professional bakers gather on Oxford Street on Sunday afternoon for a friendly but competitive cake competition.
BGF Bake Off entries are judged across a range of creative categories, from best decorated to best tasting and the ever-popular worst cake.
“Darlings, the ovens are pre-heating and so am I!” said Sydney drag icon Joyce Maaynge.
“Get ready for high tiers, thick cream and absolutely no soggy bottoms.”
Maaynge will be hosting the BGF Bake Off held at Universal.

‘Celebrating creativity while supporting people living with HIV’
For more than 40 years, BGF has been a lifeline for people living with HIV, providing practical, emotional and financial support to help them live well and independently.
Bobby Goldsmith was one of the first Australians to die from an AIDS-related illness in 1984.
In his final weeks, his friends came together to ensure he could remain at home, surrounded by love and treated with dignity. He died at home, just as he wished, cared for with compassion by the people who loved him.
From that act of love, the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation was formed.
His friends set a powerful precedent. If support could be provided for one person, it could be done for many.

Over the years, BGF has expanded its services to include disability support, particularly for the LGBTQIA+ community and others seeking inclusive, progressive, person-centred care.
Every ticket purchased to The BGF Bake Off helps to support programs and services for people living with HIV. Because every cake entered is auctioned after judging as part of a live auction at Universal.
Every year, the event continues to reflect the organisation’s community-driven roots.
“It’s a brilliant way to bring people together,” said BGF President and Bake Off co-judge, Professor Carla Treloar AM,
“Celebrating creativity while supporting people living with HIV through the work of Bobby Goldsmith Foundation.”

Treloar will be joined by Member for Sydney, Alex Greenwich MP, and President of the Pride Business Association, Jarrod Lomas, as Bake Off judges.
“Events like Bake Off are a joyful reminder of the strength of our communities,” Greenwich said.
“While HIV is no longer the crisis it once was, the need for connection, support and accessible services hasn’t gone away.”
“Initiatives like this bring people together in a fun way, while raising funds that make a real difference to people living with HIV.”
