Former Gold Coast gay nightclub MP’s is set to relaunch after an extensive revamp later this month.
The venue, located on Orchid Avenue in Surfers Paradise, is re-opening with new owners who promise a “non-judgemental” atmosphere and entertainment from DJs and Queensland drag queens including Tina Bikki, Vanille Foldher, Alexis Diamond (pictured) and Coco Verdose.
“We are a mixed venue proudly catering for the gay, lesbian, bi and transgender community,” spokesperson Claire Kingston told the Gold Coast Bulletin.
“We just want people to know it’s going to be a great place to come and you will feel safe.
“If you want to express yourself and be covered in glitter when you come in, that’s fine… just as long as it’s not going to get on the furniture.”
MP’s will be open later this month from 9pm on Wednesday to Sunday evenings with a capacity of 350 people.
“MP’s will be opening with state-of-the-art lighting, sound system and totally refurbished decor,” the venue’s owners wrote on Facebook.
“The wait will be worth it!
The revival of the revamped MP’s comes months after the re-opening of nearby gay club Rise on Cavill Avenue.
Last month it was announced that Rise would host Australia’s first LGBTI-inclusive “Pride House” during the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in March.
