George Michael died of natural causes, authorities confirmed this week. Michael’s partner , Fadi Fawaz found him dead Christmas Day.
He passed away peacefully in his home on Christmas day last year.
An earlier post-mortem came back “inconclusive”. Police at the time called the superstar’s death “unexplained but not suspicious”, delaying his funeral.
But the coroner who investigated Michael’s death confirmed heart and liver failure caused the death.
Oxfordshire senior coroner Darren Salter released an official statement on the singer’s death.
“Inquires into the death of George Michael have concluded and the final post-mortem report received,”
“There confirmed natural cause of death is dilated cardiomyopathy with myocarditis and fatty liver.
“The investigation is being discontinued and there is no need for an inquest or any further enquiries.”
“No further updates will be provided and the family requests the media and public respect their privacy.”
People with dilated cardiomyopathy suffer an enlarged and weakened heart which struggles to pump blood.
Myocarditis is an inflammation of the heart.
