First of all the Australian gender-busting drag ensemble YUMMY are among the headliners of a free mini festival next week, as the Brisbane Festival officially launches its program for 2018.
The festival will hold a public launch party in Queen Street Mall as the full 2018 program is unveiled, boasting almost 600 performances – 100 of them free – across 17 venues in September.
Award-winning drag star Valerie Hex will host the festivities.
Joining the stars of YUMMY at the special launch event will be actor-turned-singer Hugh Sheridan, Opera Queensland leading lady Natalie Christie Peluso and further more Queensland chamber orchestra Camerata, and the ACPA Gospel Choir also dazzling street troupe The Renegades.
Brisbane Festival is one of Australia’s major international arts festivals and most importantly Queensland’s largest cultural event, consequently attracting an audience of around one million people every year.
Running from September 8 to 29, the Brisbane Festival will conclude with the iconic Sunsuper Riverfire.
Tickets to Brisbane Festival’s full 22-day program of events will go on sale to the public Tuesday, July 3 at 12-noon.
