Four young Queenslanders will join French dance company Ballet Preljocaj on stage in Brisbane for their contemporary retelling of Snow White, making its Australian debut at QPAC next month.
Lily Naylor from Joyner, Anya Macdonald from Highvale, Zara Strelen from Taigum, and Sienna-Rose Polestico from Warner will star as young Snow White in the story ballet by French choreographer, Angelin Preljocaj.
The company of 24 dancers will travel to Brisbane for the exclusive season, including Emilie Lalande and Virginie Caussin who will play adult Snow White.
Angelin Preljocaj incorporates imagery from the original Brothers Grimm fairytale from the 1800s that’s since inspired countless adaptations, set around the character with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony and her battle against the envy and deceit of her stepmother Queen.
The production features massive sets, costumes by fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier, Gustav Mahler’s symphonies performed live by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra conducted by Johannes Fritszch, and set design by French artist Thierry Leproust.
France’s Ballet Preljocaj will come to Brisbane for the exclusive season of Snow White at the QPAC Lyric Theatre from 2 to 11 September. For tickets, visit QPAC.com.au or call 136 246.
