Follow Our Publisher Richard’s Weight Loss Journey With Goodlife Fortitude Valley

After getting engaged earlier this year, QNews Publisher Richard Bakker now can’t wait to marry his fiance Am.

But at 53 years of age and currently weighing 124 kg, he wants to lose weight and look his best in the wedding pics.

Richard (pictured above, left) said, “I waited this long to get married. I’m only doing it once so I’ll get one shot at these photos.”

This week he started at Goodlife Health Club Fortitude Valley with a 12-week fitness program of core exercises to increase his metabolic rate and burn fat.

Richard said he felt a little intimidated going into a place where he’d be surrounded by uber-fit gods and goddesses.

It’s over 20 years since he’s walked through the doors of a gym, but when he arrived the friendly welcome immediately put him at ease.

Andrew Beresford Personal Trainer and Exercise Consultant

His fitness instructor Andrew Beresford (pictured, right), Personal Trainer and Exercise Consultant, was charming, attentive, focused and extremely encouraging.

Originally from Adelaide, Andrew holds a Certificate III and Certificate IV in Fitness Training. He’s been with Goodlife for three years and is at the Fortitude Valley gym five days a week.

Andrew started off by weighing and photographing Richard so that his progress over the 12 weeks can be monitored, and we will be following that progress here in QNews Magazine.

His personal program includes three sessions a week of exercise to set him on the path to weight-loss, better health, increased body strength – and looking a million dollars in a tux.

Goodlife Health Club Fortitude Valley is located in the Homemaker Valley North on the corner of Wickham Street and Montpelier Road with three hours free parking downstairs.

Goodlife constantly upgrades their equipment and currently has all-new equipment and wonderfully friendly staff.
