Streaming service Stan has released the first full trailer for RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under ahead of its premiere next month.
The long-awaited eight-episode local version of the show sashays onto our screens in just a few weeks on Saturday, May 1.
And the new trailer gives us an early look at our Aussie and Kiwi queens in action: their Werk Room entrances, getting critiqued in challenges, and meeting our hunky Pit Crew.
“G’day, g’day, g’day!” RuPaul says as he greets the queens.
“I’m searching for Down Under’s Drag Race superstar. You’ve gotta have a whole lot of Perth-onality.”
The new Australian and New Zealand spinoff of Drag Race filmed in Auckland earlier this year.
Ten queens are competing to become our first drag superstar, announced at Mardi Gras last month.
They are Art Simone (Geelong), Coco Jumbo (Sydney), Maxi Shield (Sydney), Anita Wigl’it (Auckland), Scarlet Adams (Perth), Etcetera Etcetera (Sydney), Jojo Zaho (Newcastle), Kita Mean (Auckland), Karen From Finance (Melbourne) and Elektra Shock (Auckland).
RuPaul himself is hosting Drag Race Down Under. Michelle Visage and Australian comedian Rhys Nicholson are also joining him on the judging panel.
We’re still waiting for news on which other celebrities will make guest appearances on Drag Race Down Under.
RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will premiere in Australia on Saturday May 1 on streaming service Stan.
In New Zealand, the show will screen on TVNZ and stream in the US on Wow Presents Plus.
