A beautiful new photo book has been released by PFLAG Brisbane, with intimate photos of PFLAG grandparents caring for their grandchildren born to same-sex parents.
PFLAG spokesperson and supermum Shelley Argent said the group produced the book because she was sick of hearing opponents of marriage equality ask, “What about the children?”
“What we’ve done is we’ve put together a ‘brag book,’ and it’s filled with genuine photos of grandparents with their grandchildren from same sex couples,” Shelley explained.
Each of the grandparents also gives their thoughts on marriage equality in the book.
“The message is that these grandchildren, our children, are fine,” Shelley said.
“They are just the same as anybody else’s grandchildren or children, they’re loved equally, they’re no better, they’re no worse, they’re just children that are loved.”
Shelley launched the photo book in Brisbane with federal Labor MPs Terri Butler and Tanya Plibersek.
