Many of our readers will be familiar with Lismore’s amazing Tropical Fruits parties, but the Northern Rivers region is also a real hub of artistic activity and for those wanting to experience a truly unique and brilliant piece of Australian theatre, Northern Rivers Performing Arts’ latest production is not to be missed.

Set on location under the stars at Lismore’s now unused train station, Railway Wonderland tells a magical story inspired by the region that will transport you across time from 1940s to the present day.

The iconic heritage train station hasn’t been in use since 2004 but like in so many regional towns in Australia, our history is written on its tracks – from the arrival of early settlers, the post-war immigrants, the Aquarius hippies, the returning soldiers and young people leaving the town in search of work and adventure in the big cities. Combining drama, dance, live music and a choir, Railway Wonderland brings those stories to life once more.

Just a stone’s throw from Brisbane, Lismore is the perfect destination for a weekend away and is just a short drive from some of Northern NSW’s most beautiful beaches.

Railway Wonderland will be staged 22 Oct – 7 Nov at the Lismore Train Station, Union Street, Lismore, Northern NSW. Seating will be under cover should it rain. Tickets are available now via www.norpa.org.au or 1300 066 772. Adult $49 Senior $44 Concession $42 Under 18 $22.
