Hunter Schafer has slammed the Trump administration after she received a new passport with her gender marker listed as male.
The Euphoria star, who’s transgender, posted a video on TikTok in which she explained that she needed a replacement passport after the theft of her original.
“Now, to specify, my gender markers were first changed in my teens, when I first got my driver’s license,” she said.
“Then passports following all have been female since then… Hasn’t really been a problem.”
But US President Donald Trump has spent his first month in office targeting trans folk.
On the first day, Trump signed an executive order titled, “Defending Women from Gender Ideology Extremism and Restoring Biological Truth to the Federal Government.”
The order directed federal agencies recognise “two sexes, male and female,” which “are not changeable and are grounded in fundamental and incontrovertible reality.”
As a result, passports, as well as other forms of government-issued identification, must reflect sex assigned at birth.
Hunter Schafer confirmed in that she received her newly-issued passport with an “M” for male.
She said she was sharing the video to “note the reality of the situation that’s happening.”
“I was shocked. I just didn’t think it was actually going to happen,” she said.

Hunter Schafer slams Trump administration
Discussing her passport, Hunter Schafer said she believes the fact she never changed her birth certificate may have contributed.
“I don’t know exactly what changed as far as the processing goes. But this is the first time this has happened to me since I changed my gender marker,” she said.
“We’re coming up on a decade now, or something. I do believe it’s a direct result of the administration our country is currently operating under.
“I guess I’m just sort of scared of the way this stuff slowly gets implemented.”
Hunter said she was thinking of other transgender folk caught up in the orders. She said despite what the Trump administration thinks, holding an incorrect passport doesn’t stop her from existing.
“I don’t give a f__k that they put an ‘M’ on my passport,” she said.
“It doesn’t change really anything about me or my transness. However, it does make life a little harder.”
Hunter added, “Trans people are beautiful. We’re never going to stop existing. I’m never gonna stop being trans.
“A letter and a passport can’t change that. And f__k this administration.”
‘Have to out myself to border patrol agents’
Hunter Schafer said she has to travel outside of the country for work with her new passport for the first time.
“I’m pretty sure it’s going to come along with having to out myself to border patrol agents… much more often than I would like to or is really necessary,” she said.
