Music icon Sir Elton John will return to Australia with his band for two north Queensland concerts this September.
On Tuesday it was announced he’ll play a concert in Mackay at BB Print Stadium on Friday, September 22. In Cairns, he’ll play Cazaly’s Stadium on Saturday, September 30.
Two more Queensland shows are expected to be announced.
The “Once In A Lifetime” tour will feature classic hits and album tracks from throughout Elton’s five-decade career, including a selection of songs from 1973 album “Goodbye Yellow Brick Road”.
“I always love coming back to Australia. It holds a very special place in my heart, ever since my first visit there at the start of my worldwide career in 1971,” Elton said.
“My band and I are really looking forward to playing there again in September and this tour will be even more memorable because it will be the first time I have ever played Mackay and Cairns, which I can’t believe but there you have it.
“If the audiences are anything like those at all of the other shows we have done in Queensland over the years, everyone will surely be in for a wonderful crazy night!”
Elton John last performed in Australia in 2015, touring only capital cities.
Tickets for the two north Queensland shows go on sale on March 14.
