Elliot Page debuts trans character in The Umbrella Academy

Elliot Page Memoir Pageboy

Elliot Page has introduced the world to their new character in The Umbrella Academy.

Taking to Instagram Page used the opportunity to announce their character had also transitioned.

Netflix also joined in on the announcement.

Elliot Page welcomes Viktor Hargreeves to the world

In December 2020 Elliot Page came out as transgender to the world via Instagram.

Since then he has become a trailblazer for trans visibility.

He has openly shared his joy about his transition with the world, including sitting down to chat with Oprah about it.

Since his transition, it was announced that Elliot would continue his role in the popular television program The Umbrella Academy.

Until recently it had been assumed that Elliot would continue to play the role of Vanya Hargreeves in the hit show.

However, in his recent Instagram post, Elliot has introduced the world to his character Viktor.

In a simple post, Elliot shared an image from the set of himself on set saying “Meet Viktor Hargreeves ☂️.”

Netflix was quick to jump in and share the welcome too.

The streaming giant also shared the image saying “Welcome to the family, Viktor — we’re so happy you’re here.”

Elliot Page continues sharing trans voices

It’s another step forward for trans visibility from Page.

Despite already being a queer-inclusive program, the inclusion and the narrative of a trans character continues to increase trans visibility for the program.

Which is something Elliot has committed to doing.

In the last few months, he has already signed up as executive producer for a documentary about a group of young trans people.

Universal content productions have also signed the star up for a new writing deal to help tell more marginalised stories on screen.

Elliot Page has also announced he will be writing his memoir ‘Pageboy’ which is set to expose many people in Hollywood.

He continues to be a powerful voice in Hollywood and we can’t wait to see what he does next.
