Actress Ellen Page has announced that she has married partner Emma Portner.
“Can’t believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife,” the actress wrote on Instagram, alongside a series of photos that included a snap of their matching wedding bands.
Portner, a professional dancer and teacher at New York’s Broadway Dance Center, also announced the surprise marriage on her Instagram page with the same photos and a similar message, writing, “@ellenpage I LOVE YOU.”
It’s not known exactly when the couple tied the knot, but they’ve shared cute photos together on their social media accounts over the last several months.
Page first came out as gay in 2014 at a Human Rights Campaign event in a speech that earned her a standing ovation.
“I’m here today because I am gay,” she said at the time.
“And because maybe I can make a difference. To help others have an easier and more hopeful time.
“Regardless, for me, I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility.”
