When Sydney woman Sarah found out her beloved grandfather had only three months to live she came up with a secret proposal.
Her Pa and Nan absolutely adored her partner, Megan, so Sarah decided to involve them in popping the big question.
“We have always been very close. He (Pa) is my best friend,” Sarah explained.
With the help of her family, Sarah filmed a video of her grandparents in which her grandfather asks for Megan’s hand in marriage on her behalf.
“Hi, this is the old fella here, how much we have grown to love you during the period of your association with our family,” the 82-year-old says in the video.
“You are now a part of our family, and we welcome you into our home with or without Sarah at any time.
“I have a favour to ask. Would you please consider and agree to marry our granddaughter?” Pa says.
“Thank you, and I hope you both have a very, very happy life together.”
Sarah then planned an afternoon at a beach in Port Stephens where she played the heart-warming message for her long-term partner on a laptop.
Megan responded with a resounding ‘yes’ and the wedding will take place on October 7.
Sarah told Daily Mail Australia her Nan and Pa have an inspirational love story of their own, with Pa donating a kidney to his wife 14 years ago.
Sadly, Sarah’s grandfather passed away last week after a battle with cancer but while he won’t be physically attending the wedding, he will certainly be there in spirit.
“The wedding will be full of love but there’s no doubt we will be sharing a moment for Pa on our special day,” Megan said.
