Barbra Streisand’s attention to detail is very well known.
So when it came to the music icon’s attention that Apple’s iPhone personal assistant Siri was mispronouncing her name – Strei-Zand instead of the correct Strei-Sand, with a soft ‘s’ – she went all the way to the top to try and fix the problem.
“Everyone calls me Barbra ‘Streizand,’ so I said I’ve got to do something about this. I mean fifty years already, don’t you know how to say my name right?” she told talk show host Jimmy Fallon this week.
“So you know what I did? I went to the top of the heap. I called the head of Apple, Tim Cook.
“If you don’t ask, you can’t get, right? He was very sweet. They’re actually updating Siri on September 30.”
And in a preview clip of Sunday night’s episode of 60 Minutes, Barbra schools an Australian reporter who flubs her name in the same way too.
Barbra just released her latest album ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, a collection of show tunes she’s performed with Hollywood actors like Alec Baldwin, Jamie Foxx, Melissa McCarthy, Anne Hathaway and Seth MacFarlane.
