Yasmin Finney, star of Heartstopper, has been cast in the upcoming 60th anniversary season of Doctor Who.
The news follows the announcement of Ncuti Gatwa as the new Doctor Who.

Yasmin Finney to star in Doctor Who
Yasmin Finney is most well known for her role as Elle Argent in Heartstopper.
Her appearance as a trans actress in a mainstream program has garnered praise worldwide.
Now Yasmin is taking the next big step as she steps onto screen next year in the latest Doctor Who.
She will take on the role of Rose when she appears on the program.
This role was previously played by Billie Piper from 2005 to 2013.
How this role will work, whether it is the version of the character or not is yet to be explained.

Yasmin has this week spoken about her excitement for the role ahead of filming.
“If anyone would have told eight-year-old Yasmin that one day she’d be part of this iconic show, I would have never in a million years believed them,” she said of her new role.
“This show has a place in so many people’s hearts. So to be seen as a trans actress by the legend himself Russell, has not only made my year, it’s made my life.”
“I cannot wait to begin this journey and for you all to see how Rose blossoms. Get ready.”
Filming on the latest Doctor Who is set to begin soon.
The season is due to air in 2023.
