The HIV Foundation Queensland will be hosting a FREE community forum (including refreshments) in Brisbane on 15 September to discuss PrEP – a new HIV prevention method in which people who do not have HIV take a pill daily to reduce their risk of contracting HIV. (CLICK BELOW TO RSVP)
Following the huge amount of community interest shown at the HIV Foundation’s previous PrEP forum held in March, this forum will include a presentation from Professor Bob Grant, a PrEP expert from San Francisco who will discuss how the new treatment has revolutionised HIV prevention in a city that has long been at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDS.
Hosted by Heath Paynter from the Victorian AIDS Council, the evening will also hear first hand accounts from a speaker describing his own experience taking PrEP, as well as information about current availability and cost of PreP in Queensland from HIV specialists Dr Darren Russell, and regular QNews columnist Dr Fiona Bisshop.
At the conclusion of the presentations, the floor will be open to the public to have their questions answered the expert panel.
The Forum is a free event and will be held 6:00pm-8:00pm on Tuesday 15 September at the Brisbane Convention Centre, South Brisbane. Refreshments will be served from 5:30pm. People wishing to attend are encouraged to click here to RSVP for catering purposes.
