A chance encounter with Argentinean Tango in Paris at the age of 23 and Australian classical mandolinist, Ruth Roshan, fell in love with the tango.
Since that fateful meeting, Ruth has turned the tango into her passion and has recorded three tango inspired albums with her with her quintet, Tango Noir.
“I had heard lots of Tango growing up, but that night was something else,” Roshan explained. It wasn’t just the music, though that was a big part of it. The players had created this wonderful loving atmosphere.”
Having performed all over the world, Ruth and Tango Noir are now primed to perform at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday 3 October, offering audiences an unforgettable musical experience where grand piano, violin, accordion, jazz flute, cello and mandolin meld together flawlessly to create a luscious musical landscape.
Ruth Roshan & Tango Noir perform at the Brisbane Powerhouse, Visy Theatre on Saturday October 3 in support of their new original CD, Stories of Love & Regret. Tickets ($30) at www.brisbanepowerhouse.org
